Environmental Justice: Clean Air, Clean Water, and Black Communities

This Black History 365 one-day sub plan introduces middle school students to environmental justice, clean air, clean water, and the impact of environmental conditions on Black communities. Students learn how science can help communities identify problems, interpret data, and propose solutions.

Designed for a 60-minute class period, this resource requires minimal teacher guidance and is ideal for substitute days, emergency lesson plans, environmental science units, Earth science units, human impact lessons, Black History Month, or year-round culturally responsive instruction.
